Great blog Andrew. I'm so thrilled with this move the more I think about it. I hope he helps Galchenyuk's development also. I don't get why everyone is saying the sky is falling in regards to his development at center. He's only 22, and face offs and two way skill are very teachable unlike offensive acumen (which he already has loads of).

I would lean more towards a veteran's coach. On most occasions, he had a very short leash with young players (including Seguin who was often a healthy scratch before lighting up Dwayne Roloson in the playoffs in 2011, and really only played because they were starving for goals), however, he was a little more lenient with guys like Marchand in terms of development. But it's a fresh start for him, so maybe he'll be different in ways. Also, don't get frustrated when the fourth line is getting ice time in key situations.

Thanks a lot. I applaud the move as well, but Therrien does deserve some recognition for helping Galchenyuk become a prolific scorer. With that in mind, you hit the nail on the head- winning faceoffs and playing responsibly defensive hockey is something that can be taught but also comes with experience.

Julien coached some of the best two-way players in the league to a Stanley Cup championship in 2011. You'd have to think that he knows a thing or two about how to properly help them develop

No doubt he tends to rely more on his veterans, but I'm willing to believe that what you alluded to- a fresh start- could help him change his ways.

If he can put together a fourth line that can occasionally chip in offensively while focusing on applying pressure on opponents by using its speed, I have no issues with that.
